Local saké tasting along the Gifu Nagara River

The Japanese word “kaku-uchi” refers to sampling saké at a Japanese liquor store.

 

 

With this experience, you can enjoy a carefree time tasting the different varieties of saké made by the 13 breweries along the Nagara River from upstream to downstream, all stocked at the Nagaragawa Department Store.

Enjoy your saké along with snacks from the Nagara River area that are sold here at the store, for an even more local experience.

 

 

You can sample the saké while standing in a special space that’s set apart for this delightful occasion.

Participants are given a choice of three delicious brands of saké, which are picked out just for the season.

Sampling the varieties in small quantities gives you a unique opportunity to encounter renowned varieties of saké for the first time!

 

 

A pamphlet is also provided for visitors to learn about the unique qualities of the saké produced at each brewery, along with other information.

An even more cultured way to enjoy this experience is by comparing how the brands of the saké breweries downstream and upstream differ.

We heartily encourage you to come embrace a sense of adventure for an emotional kaku-uchi experience and snacks from the Nagara River area.
